To become an adapted company, the organization must be accredited by Services-Québec. To obtain accreditation, companies must, among other things:
- be a non-profit organization or co-operative and always employ at least 60% of persons with disabilities who are eligible for the Programme de subventions aux entreprises adaptées (PSEA);
- provide such persons with disabilities with meaningful and gainful employment in accordance with the provisions of labour legislation.
The support is granted directly to the adapted company in the form of a wage subsidy from the Programme de subventions aux entreprises adaptées.
The jobs offered in adapted companies do not generally require a diploma or relevant experience. They vary in length and may even be offered on a long-term basis.
